It is familiar to millions of television viewers all over the world every year who watch the Last Night of the Proms , [51] where it is traditionally performed.

Elgar's Pomp & Circumstance March No. 1 was completed in July 1901 although the 'big tune' actually dates from earlier in that same year. It was premiered in Liverpool by its dedicatees, the Liverpool Orchestral Society, on the 19th October.

20. Juni 2024 · His Pomp & Circumstanc marches appeared over a period of about thirty years. Nos 1 & 2 in 1901, No3 in 1905, No4 in 1907 and No5 in 1930. Nos 1 & 4 are the best known because of their singable trio tunes, but the others contain some vintage Elgar.
