Ouse and Derwent wapentake, first mentioned in 1200, (fn. 5) was made up of parts of Cave, Howden, Pocklington, Sneculfcros, and Warter hundreds, though the Howden townships may not have been included until the 14th century. From Cave hundred the wapentake drew part of the township of West Cottingwith.
