The manor remained in Crown hands until 1463 when it was granted to George Plantagenet, duke of Clarence. Clarence was attainted and executed in 1478 and the manor reverted to the Crown. In 1484 it was granted to Sir Richard Radcliffe, but he died at Bosworth in the following year.
