So, as a political general, he did great. Militarily, he (and staff) planned a huge logistics build up, air campaign and ground assault. He planned based on a maneuver battle tactic. That is pretty novel, as most battles just are grinding away (a la Ukraine) . So, as a tactician, he did great.
