Jason Marsalis (born March 4, 1977) is an American jazz drummer, vibraphone player, composer, producer, band leader, and member of the Marsalis family of musicians. He is the youngest son of Dolores Ferdinand Marsalis and the late Ellis Marsalis, Jr. Musical career.
Jason is the son of pianist and music educator Ellis Marsalis and his wife Dolores, and the youngest sibling of Wynton, Branford and Delfeayo. Together, the four brothers and their patriarch Ellis, comprise New Orleans venerable first family of jazz.
Jason Marsalis & the 21st Century Trad Band will be going on tour this month in support of their new release, “Melody Reimagined, Book 1”. This release coincides with the 20th anniversary of Basin Street Records, the record label that is releasing Marsalis’ new album.
