Wedgwood Queensware Cruet. Circa 1785. In 1763 Josiah Wedgwood finally succeeded in producing a fine, richly glazed earthenware, a cream ware to rival porcelain. So popular was it that by 1765, with the royal consent of Queen Charlotte, a satisfied customer, the name 'Queensware' was adopted.
