His parents, Andrej and Julia Warhola, were Carpatho-Rusyn immigrants from a region in the Carpathian Mountains in what is now Eastern Slovakia. Vor 3 Tagen · I’m obsessed with this illustration by Julia Warhola — especially the amorphous, rotund cat, with its crooked hind legs. You can see other pages here; the one captioned “some wear chapeaux” is also very goofy and something I’d like to own in print form.

Even though they lived in one of Pittsburgh’s Eastern European ethnic enclaves, they have devoted Byzantine Catholics who went to church regularly.
