Vor 3 Tagen · 1925 wurde in Vilnius das YIVO (Yidisher visnshaftlekher institut) gegründet. Das YIVO war die erste akademische Einrichtung zum Studium des Jiddischen und der ostjüdischen Kultur. 1940 verlegte es, angesichts der Zeitumstände, seinen Sitz nach New York, wo es bis heute besteht.
