Chéri-Bibi and Cécily (French: Chéri-Bibi et Cécily) is a 1916 adventure thriller novel by the French writer Gaston Leroux. A serial novel, it was the second of four works featuring the character of Chéri-Bibi.
Chéri-Bibi, a Houdini-like magician and escape artist, is the toast of Paris, except among certain members of the upper-class, who consider him a charlatan. Unfortunately, one of them is the nobleman Bourrelier, whose daughter Cecily is madly in love with Bibi (and vice versa), despite being engaged to the Marquis Du Touchais.
Chéri-Bibi is a 1955 French-Italian adventure drama film directed by Marcello Pagliero and starring Jean Richard, Lea Padovani and Danielle Godet. It is based on the 1916 novel Chéri-Bibi and Cécily by Gaston Leroux. It was shot at the Cinecittà Studios in Rome and on location around Paris.
