In an era dominated by male rock and roll acts, an all-girl band like The Pleasure Seekers as well as the Quatro sisters, as a group and individually, stood out. The band was Detroit’s first completely female rock act. At first, audiences treated them like a novelty – girls playing in a man’s world.
The Pleasure Seekers. All female American band founded in 1964 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan by sisters Patti and Suzi Quatro, sisters Nancy (drums) and Mary Lou Ball (guitar), and Diane Baker on piano. Baker was soon replaced by Arlene Quatro.
The original family name was Quattrocchi, shortened upon arrival at Ellis Island on Dec 8, 1908, to Quatro. The girls were nurtured in a very musically rich environment, with vocal and piano lessons, and grew up with a natural ability to pick up other instruments in the Quatro home and at school.
