The album features John Popper on harmonica and vocals, Jimmy Herring and Derek Trucks on guitar, Kofi Burbridge on keyboards and flute, Oteil Burbridge on bass, Marc Quinones on percussion, and Butch Trucks on drums.
The following year, the group released their only album, Croakin' at Toad's, recorded live at Toad's Place in New Haven, Connecticut, and released on Butch Trucks' Flying Frog label. Frogwings also performed at the First Annual Jammy Awards that year, with Susan Tedeschi as vocalist.
Popper took over in 1998 as frontman of jam-band supergroup Frogwings, which then released the live album Croakin' at Toad's. Popper later formed a rock/jazz/hip hop fusion group called the John Popper Project with DJ Logic, which released an album in 2006 and performs occasionally.

6. Feb. 2024 · In 1999, John Popper joined, and Frogwings recorded its only album, Croakin’ at Toad’s. For whatever reason, that was the end of this killer Butch Trucks side project. Honestly I don’t love the cd as much as I loved the 1997 and 1998 live shows.
Frogwings sometimes brings in a little Latin influence, incorporates the blues, thanks to John Popper, and can get a bit jazzy, owing to the inclinations of the two guitarists. The album begins with one of its longest jams, and one of its best.
