Zusammen mit seinen damaligen Kollegen Josey Scott Sappington, Todd Poole, Dave Novotny und Chris D’Abaldo gründete Gitarrist Wayne Swinny im September 1996 die Alternative- und Nu Metal-Band Saliva und blieb bis zuletzt das einzige aktive Gründungsmitglied der Band.
The band featured vocalist Todd Poole, drummer Scott "Scotty T." Tramwell, guitarist Sid Fletcher, and bassist Josh Weil. Fletcher and Weil met at the Atlanta Guitar Institute of Technology . [2] The group signed with Geffen Records and released their debut album Want Some? on the label in 1992.
