Edmund John 'Ed' Deane (born 18 November 1952 in Dublin) is an Irish guitarist with a career spanning six decades, from the late 1960s to the present day. He is a blues musician, playing the electric and acoustic guitar, and specialising in slide guitar and the lap steel guitar.
Ed Deane is a Dublin-born guitarist, singer and composer, rated one of the finest blues and rock guitarists to emerge from Ireland. Bio – Ed Deane. Born in Dublin, Ed started playing acoustic blues and slide guitar while still at school. His repertoire at the time drew mainly from the Delta blues of Sun House, Robert Johnson and Skip James. At age 16 he formed the band Blueshouse.
Deane, a Dublin-born guitarist, has been kicking around as a session player and sometime front-man since the 1960s, so he must be pushing 70. Still, his musical intelligence ranges over a variety of styles: every cut on this album feels fresh and innovative. And Deane’s voice somehow sounds like that of a teenager.
