Jules Perrot est né à Lyon en 1810. Engagé au Théâtre de la Gaité à Paris, il se forme auprès de Vestris, et danse ensuite au Théâtre de la Porte-Saint-Martin. Il rejoint le Ballet de l’Opéra de Paris de 1830 à 1835, où il danse aux cotés de Marie Taglioni, Fanny Elssler et Fanny Cerrito.
