Ironically, Skip wrote a song entitled “Gone,” which dealt with the death of Jacqueline Mesquite. That is the July “Song of The Month” for the Bumpsters. OBIT DIDN’T MENTION MUSIC AT ALL!

For years I assumed that this was Lenny Pickett, and then I learned that it was actually Skip Mesquite, the original lead tenor player for TOP.

  6. The Tower of Power horn players have performed with Cold Blood on a regular basis since the early 1970s. Skip Mesquite and Mic Gillette have been members of both Tower of Power and Cold Blood. The band disbanded in the late 1970s.
