20. Aug. 2020 · Despite its electronic nature, Exotic Moog is very much a piece with Denny’s earlier exotica. A consummate musician, his playing on the album demonstrates a remarkable understanding of the nuances of which the Moog is capable.

Martin Denny (April 10, 1911 – March 2, 2005) was an American pianist, composer, and arranger. Known as the "father of exotica ," [1] he was a multi-instrumentalist and could play a number of percussion instruments.

Exotica king Martin Denny made this totally insane Moog album at a flagging point in his career. After rather abandoning exotica for bland Latin-tinged elevator jazz, this seems like an almost surreal move (though rumour has it that Denny didn’t play a note on the album, and it was probably all Liberty Records’ idea).
