Gene Puerling. Eugene Thomas Puerling (March 31, 1929 – March 25, 2008) was an American vocal performer and arranger. Puerling created and led two prominent vocal quartets, The Hi-Lo's and The Singers Unlimited. [1] . He was nominated for 14 Grammys and awarded the Grammy Award for Best Vocal Arrangement for Two or More Voices in 1982.

Gene Puerling was a pioneer of vocal jazz and a Grammy-winning arranger who influenced the Beach Boys and other groups. He formed the Hi-Lo's in 1953 and sang with them until 1964, and later led Singers Unlimited.
Born in 1929 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Gene Puerling was the founding member of the legendary vocal quartet. The Hi-Lo's, with whom, between 1953 and 1964, he recorded thirteen albums featuring his vocal arrangement.
