Salambo, französischer Originaltitel Salammbô, ist ein 1862 erschienener historischer Roman von Gustave Flaubert . Das Werk schildert, angelehnt an historische Begebenheiten, den Verlauf des Söldneraufstands, der nach der Niederlage Karthagos im Ersten Punischen Krieg 241 bis etwa 238 v. Chr. in Nordafrika ausbrach.
Die Handlung des Romans beruht auf einer wahren Begebenheit, dem Söldnerkrieg von Karthago. Während die Figur Salammbô erfunden ist, gab es ihren Vater Hamilkar und ihren Bruder Hannibal wirklich. Flaubert arbeitete fünf Jahre an dem Roman und besuchte Nordafrika, um sich inspirieren zu lassen.
