John Charles "Duff" Lowe (13 April 1942 – 22 February 2024) was an English pianist. In the late 1950s, he played piano for The Quarrymen, the group who would evolve into The Beatles.

John Lowe, who played piano for the Quarrymen, the band that became the Beatles, passed away in 2024. He was 81 and had a rare recording of the group from 1958 that McCartney bought in 1981.
" In Spite of All the Danger " is the first song recorded by the Quarrymen, then consisting of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, pianist John Lowe, and drummer Colin Hanton . McCartney wrote the song and Harrison provided the guitar solo, and so the song is credited to McCartney–Harrison.
27. Juni 2020 · In 1958, John Duff Lowe occasionally played with the group and on 12th July 1958, John, Paul, George, Colin and John Duff Lowe made a record at Percy Phillips’ studio. After briefly splitting up in early 1959, they reformed to open The Casbah Club on 29th August 1959 with Ken Brown.
