Maybelle and Ezra Carter House. / 36.67389°N 82.40278°W / 36.67389; -82.40278. Maybelle and Ezra Carter House is a historic home located at Maces Spring, Scott County, Virginia. The original one-story, frame dwelling was enlarged by an additional 1/2-story for more bedroom space in the 1920s-1930s.
In 1927, he formed the Carter Family band together with his wife. They were joined by Sara's cousin, Maybelle, who was married to A.P.'s brother, Ezra Carter (father of June Carter Cash ). Since A.P. worked as a traveling salesman, Carter was known for traveling extensively throughout Central Appalachia.
Mother Maybelle Carter was a country music pioneer and a member of the Carter Family. She married Ezra Carter in 1926 and had three children with him.

In March of 1926, fate brought 16-year-old Maybelle even closer as she married A.P.’s younger brother Ezra ‘Eck’ Carter and moved to their side of the mountain. A year later, the duo had become a trio, with Sara singing lead, Maybelle a higher harmony, and A.P. the bass part.
