Nachdem World Circuit Alben mit anderen Künstlern des Buena Vista Social Clubs, Rubén González und Ibrahim Ferrer, aufgenommen hatte, kehrten sie in die EGREM-Studios in Havanna zurück, um »Omara« aufzunehmen. Das Ergebnis ist ein Album, das an die Blütezeit der Big Bands erinnert.
