The Actors Studio is thrilled to be partnered with Ovation TV who will produce INSIDE THE ACTORS STUDIO, the classroom and craft seminar from the Actors Studio Drama School’s MFA Program at Pace University. Expect new episodes to be aired beginning in October 2019.
The Actors Studio in New York serves as the creative home and administrative headquarters for both the New York Actors Studio and its only branch, Actors Studio West, located in West Hollywood, CA.
The Actors Studio’s legacy is profound and unique in the history of American Theatre and Film. Our alumni include many renowned, acclaimed, beloved artists – actors, writers, and directors who have left their mark on the world’s stage.
Since our founding in New York City in 1947 by Elia Kazan, Cheryl Crawford, and Bobby Lewis, The Actors Studio has become renowned world wide as ‘the home of method acting.’
Our founding members, a group of actors, writers, and directors, were committed to redefining the art of acting, to developing a series of techniques an actor could use to search for and express the truth onstage in the moment.
Written by Andreas Manolikakis. The Actors Studio was founded in New York by Elia Kazan, Cheryl Crawford and Robert Lewis in 1947. For seven decades it has been devoted to the service and development of theatre artists –actors, directors and playwrights.
Membership Benefits. Once admitted to membership, the actor is free to use all the facilities of the Studios, both in New York and in Los Angeles. Members of The Studio enjoy a number of luxuries not usually available to actors in the commercial theatre.
Actors begin our process with a “Preliminary Audition” by signing up online to request an audition. When our next audition date is scheduled, all applicants who have requested an audition will be notified 4-6 weeks in advance by email only.
A celebration of and tribute to the work of a uniquely original trailblazer. A retrospective. Studio Members will perform select passages of Williams’ work from when he was tenured at the Actors Studio. An evening to celebrate its origin at The Actors Studio.
Actors Studio West, founded in 1966 in West Hollywood, CA, is based and modeled on The Actors Studio in NYC and offers our bi-coastal and resident members a professional home similar to The Actors Studio in New York.
