Frida was born in Bjørkåsen, a small village, near Narvik, in the north of Norway, as a result of a liaison between 19-year-old Synni Lyngstad (19 June 1926 - 28 September 1947), and a German officer, Alfred Haase (born 1919), just before the end of the Second World War and the German occupation of Norway.
