I Never Said Goodbye is the ninth studio album by American rock musician Sammy Hagar, released on June 23, 1987, by Geffen Records. It was his first solo album since 1984's VOA, released while he was a member of Van Halen.
23. Juni 2017 · The first single “Give to Live” cracked the American Top 40. “Eagles Fly” was the second single, reaching #82. Sammy Hagar was later retitled I Never Said Goodbye by the winning entry of MTV’s Sammy Hagar’s Name My Album contest, designed to juice interest in the album.
The album was re-named I Never Said Goodbye, the name being chosen as part of an MTV promotional contest. It features Eddie Van Halen on bass. In an interview, Eddie said he also played a very brief part on guitar uncredited.

23. Juni 2022 · Sammy Hagar’s solo album I Never Said Goodbye featuring Eddie Van Halen on bass turned 35 today. The syndicated radio show “In The Studio with Red Beard” recently re-released the album’s 25th anniversary interview with Hagar.
I Never Said Goodbye is a Sammy Hagar solo album, his only solo album to date released while Hagar was a member of Van Halen. The album was recorded in ten days as a contractual obligation to Geffen Records as a condition of his leaving the label to join Van Halen.
