According to HR, Finishing School was placed on the Catholic Church's "condemned" film list in the summer of 1934. According to modern sources, the film was based on both David Hempstead's screen story and the 1928 play These Days by Katharine Clugston. Clugston's play is not credited in any contemporary source, however.
