15. Okt. 2008 · Neal Hefti, one of jazz's most intuitive big-band arrangers and composers of the 1940s and 1950s whose scores so perfectly matched the bands he wrote for that they often became their best-known recordings, died on October 11. He was 85.

8. Jan. 2024 · Neal Hefti left Woody Herman in 1946 to concentrate full time on writing and arranging, working for bandleaders including Charlie Ventura, Buddy Rich and Harry James. The decade closed for Hefti with an invitation to contribute to an anthology which showcased some of the top jazz artists of the time.
Neal Paul Hefti (October 29, 1922 – October 11, 2008) was an American jazz trumpeter, composer, and arranger. He wrote music for The Odd Couple movie and TV series and for the Batman TV series. He began arranging professionally in his teens, when he wrote charts for Nat Towles.
