So sehen die US-Amerikaner den Titel ihres sechsten Albums Kings Of Metal gleichermaßen als Selbstbeschreibung. Man muss einräumen: 1988 gibt es noch nicht viele Gegenargumente.

Die ungeliebten Neuen – das elfte Manowar-Album von 2012 findet in der METAL HAMMER-Redaktion am wenigsten Anklang. Zudem gab es vor Release eine Kontroverse über das unfertige Cover und eine merkwürdige Release-Strategie
Manowar-Album Nummer 10 aus dem Jahr 2007 landet auch auf Platz 10 – Klassiker-Material ist für viele Redakteure auf dieser Platte nicht zu finden.
Trotz – oder vielleicht auch gerade wegen – des epischen ‘Achilles, Agony and Ecstasy’ – Zyklus, der den gut die Hälfte des Albums einnimmt, landet THE TRIUMPH OF STEEL „nur“ auf Platz 9. Immerhin: ‘The Demon’s Whip’ oder ‘Spirit Horse Of The Cherokee’ gehen durchaus als Hits durch.
‘Warriors Of The World United’ – und sonst so? Obwohl sich einer der vermutlich bekanntesten Über-Hits der True-Recken auf Album Nummer neun befindet, ist der Rest des Albums etwas zu verschwurbelt – und dezent zu US-patriotisch.

Was? Die zweite Manowar-Platte nur im Mittelfeld? Ja – denn ab hier wird die Hit-Luft langsam dünner – 1983 hin oder her! Dafür ist das absurde Fell-und-Leder-Cover, inklusive Joey DeMaio im ultra-knappen Fell-Lendenschurz, absolut legendär.
Die Top 5 beginnt mit dem 1984er-Album SIGN OF THE HAMMER. Auf dem Cover: Das markant schwarz-weiß-rote Hammer-Logo mit Flügeln, dass wenig dezent an Nazi-Symbolik angeleht ist (und bis heute für Diskussionen unter besorgten Eltern sorgt).
Legendäres Leder-und-Sixpack-Cover Nummer zwei. Diesmal in kitschigem Öl. Ebenfalls dabei: Hits, Hits, Hits – darunter ‘Carry On‘, ‘Blow Your Speakers’ und das epische ‘Black Wind, Fire And Steel’.
Unten auf dem Treppchen steht das Manowar-Debüt, das unter anderem mit ‘Battle Hymn’ und der legendären Zeile „The time to strike is now – Kill! Kill!“ aufwartet. Der Grundstein für den weltweiten True-Metal-Siegeszug.
Eines der härtesten Manowar-Alben – und von vorne bis hinten mit Hits gespickt. ‘Blood Of My Enemies’, ‘Each Dawn I Die’, ‘Kill With Power’ und ‘Bridge Of Death’. Zu Recht ganz weit vorne mit dabei!
