Garret Colley Wesley, 1st Earl of Mornington (19 July 1735 – 22 May 1781) was an Anglo-Irish politician and composer, as well as the father of several distinguished military commanders and politicians of Great Britain and Ireland.

Sein einziger Sohn Garret Wesley, 2. Baron Mornington (1735–1781), wurde 1760 zum Earl of Mornington und Viscount Wellesley erhoben. [2] . Er starb am 22. Mai 1781 und hinterließ aus seiner Ehe mit Hon. Anne Hill-Trevor, der Tochter des 1. Viscount Dungannon, fünf Söhne, die später ihren Familiennamen in Wellesley änderten:
He had inherited the Dangan and Mornington estates in County Meath on the death of his first cousin Garret Wesley in 1728. In the same year he was granted by Royal licence the new surname of Wesley (see below for earlier history of the family).
