Das Kunststück, das HAKEN auf „Affinity“ vollbringen, ist die geradezu perfekte Verbindung zwischen Komplexität und Eingängigkeit. Dazu trägt auch Ross Jennings bei, der hier die vielleicht beste Gesangsleistung seiner Karriere abliefert und bereits auf diesem ersten Song einen Refrain zum Abheben darbietet, dem noch mehrere folgen sollten.
