  4. Only Nelson seems to break regularly into the Downbeat polls, but if you talk to musicians, you hear all their names all the time. "Oh, you have Lightsey coming? - that's a coup! And Bulldog's the bassist? Even better." The reunion of these three gentlemen promises to be a happy and significant occasion.

  5. Biography. Lightsey had piano instruction from the age of five and studied piano and clarinet through high school. After serving in the army, Lightsey worked in Detroit and California in the 1960s as an accompanist to singers.
