Dick Cuthell is a British musician and record producer. He plays flugelhorn, cornet, and trumpet, amongst a range of other brass instruments, including tenor horn and valve trombone. Cuthell is best known for his work with The Specials and Rico Rodriguez.
In addition to a range of horns, Dick also plays bass, keyboards and percussion and is a composer and arranger. One iconic track by Special AKA was ‘Racist Friend’, which Dick co-wrote and on which he played bass and piano, in addition to the usual range of horns.
Signing to Dawn Records, Dick Cuthell joined on trumpet/flugelhorn, Chico Greenwood on drums and Alan Fealdman on keyboards. This final line-up of Bean, King, Martin, Cuthell, Hitchen, Greenwood and Fealdman commenced recording sessions for the band’s sole album at Pye Studios in London’s Marble Arch in September 1970. 17. Juli 2021 · In the summer of 1970, Trifle signed to Dawn Records, the recently established underground division of Pye. The lineup at this stage included Bean, King, Hitchen, Martin, and three newcomers: trumpeter Dick Cuthell, keyboardist Alan Fealdman, and drummer Chico Greenwood.
