Fanita Barrett (later known as Fanita James; August 13, 1938 – November 23, 2023), Gloria A. Jones (born September 12, 1938 [1] ;not to be confused with Gloria Jones of "Tainted Love" fame), Jewel Cobbs, Pat Howard and twin sisters Annette and Nanette Williams all came from musical backgrounds.
4. Dez. 2023 · Fanita was part of a group of six girls at Fremont High School in Los Angeles that loved singing together. Fanita Barrett (her maiden name), Gloria A. Jones, Jewel Cobbs, Pat Howard and twin sisters Annette and Nanette Williams joined together to create a group that would be known as the Dreamers.
The Dreamers joined Berry in the studio after much rehearsal and their first single, ""Bye Bye"/"At Last" (Flair 1052) was credited to The Dreamers featuring Richard Berry. After this first record, the group became a quartet : Fanita Barrett, Gloria Jones and the twin sisters Annette and Nanette Williams, all born in 1938.
27. Dez. 2023 · I see from the latest issue of Record Collector magazine that Fanita James (né Barrett) died last month, aged 85 (also noted in a couple of places online and on the Blossoms' Wikipedia page).
