English intertitles. With Our King and Queen Through India (1912) is a British documentary film. The film is silent and made in the Kinemacolor additive color process. The film records the 12 December 1911 celebrations in India which marked the coronation of George V and Mary of Teck and their proclamation as Emperor and Empress of India.
December 2-4, 1911. IN this subject, the first of the KINEMACOLOR Indian series, the arrival of Their Imperial Majesties on Indian soil, and their enthusiastic welcome by the population of Bombay are shown. In the bright Indian sunshine every detail is distinct and clear. A probably unique picture of His Majesty the King is included.
During one such party in Bombay on 10 November, ladies ‘belonging to all the Indian communities’ presented to her a richly illuminated address with their names signed in the scripts of their different languages.
The Gateway of India was built to commemorate the arrival of George V, Emperor of India and Mary of Teck, Empress consort, in India at Apollo Bunder, Mumbai (Bombay) on 2 December 1911 prior to the Delhi Durbar of 1911; it was the first visit of a British monarch to India.
