Balance of Power was formed in 1995 by keyboardist Ivan Gunn, along with a group of musicians from the London rock scene. One of their first line-ups featured drummer Lionel Hicks, bassist Chris Dale, vocalist Tony Ritchie, and guitarists Bill Yates and Paul Curtis.

1. Jan. 1996 · The progressive metal band Balance of Power was birthed in 1995 when keyboardist Ivan Gunn gathered together some London musicians. Members Lance King and Pete Southern joined for the band's second release, Book of Secrets, which received rave reviews from many magazines and began the group's trademark AOR/metal sound.
Ivan Gunn is well known for his work with the AOR band PRIDE but also with the melodic hard rock act BALANCE OF POWER. This year he teamed up with singer Jason Marks and with some of his all band mates in PRIDE and the result of this collaboration is a very good AOR band which called FAITHEALER.
