Accidentally on Purpose is an album by Deep Purple members Ian Gillan and Roger Glover, released in February 1988 on Virgin Records. The track "Lonely Avenue" appeared on the soundtrack to Rain Man featuring Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise.
"Accidentally on Purpose" is a ballad by George Jones. It was composed by Jones and Darrell Edwards and released it as the B-side to "Sparkling Brown Eyes" on Mercury Records in 1960. In the song, the narrator accuses a former lover of marrying another man just to spite him.
Roger Glover explains: ” accidentally ON PURPOSE was a good case in point of a record company stabbing us in the back. We finished that album and it was out a week and they dropped us. They dropped us for some political reason. It was nothing to do with us. It was nothing whatsoever to do with us.

There are no “Clouds and Rain” in the images in my mind, only boats and surf and sand. Glover plays bass and keyboards, Newmark is on drums, while George Young contributes a light sax solo.
