Antônio José Santana Martins (born 11 October 1936), known professionally as Tom Zé (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈtõ ˈzɛ]), is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer who was influential in the Tropicália movement of 1960s Brazil.

Como é notável no seu disco de 1968, "Grande Liquidação", Tom Zé carregava fortes traços tropicalistas em suas canções e era também um dos expoentes do movimento, tendo inclusive participado do disco "Tropicália ou Panis et Circensis".
He was forgotten, falling into obsurity until the 90's, when Davy Byrne (Talking Heads) found an early Tom Zé album. Grande Liquidação is a classic, the typic critical lyrics from Tropicalia scene, avant-garde music and psychedelic rock mixed with mpb, jazz and more. Very ecletic and strange.
