Gaye Advert (born 25 August 1956), also Gaye Black, is an English punk rock musician, who played bass guitar in the band The Adverts in the late 1970s. She was one of the first female rock stars of the punk rock movement, whom The Virgin Encyclopedia of 70s Music called the "first female punk star". [1]

The Virgin Encyclopedia of 70s Music described bassist and founding member Gaye Advert as the "first female punk star". [1] History. The band was formed in 1976 by T. V. Smith (Tim Smith) and Gaye Advert (Gaye Black). Smith was from the town of Okehampton in mid-Devon, and Advert was from Bideford, a small coastal town in North Devon. [2] .
Gaye Advert spielte nach der Auflösung der Adverts in keiner Band mehr, lebt bis heute in London und arbeitet als Sozialhelferin für alte Menschen. Nebenbei entwirft sie unter dem Künstlernamen Gaye Black Modeschmuck und Collagen aus Glas, Muscheln und Knochen.
