  2. In 1933, he opened a school for gifted young musicians in Odessa, The Stolyarsky School of Music, the first of its kind in the Soviet Union and still exists today. In 1939, he was honored as People's Artist of Ukrainian SSR.

  3. From 1898 commenced his pedagogical activity teaching children from the age of 4. In 1912 he opened his own music school. From 1919 he taught at the Odessa conservatory (where he became a professor in 1923). He founded the Odessa School of violin playing and became one of the founders of the Soviet violin school.

  4. Stolyarsky died in April 1944, in despair, some say, over the news of the Nazi destruction of his Odessa school. His school was eventually rebuilt by his devoted family members, friends, and former students, not least one David Oistrakh. However, it is the individuality of the extraordinary violinists he taught that may be his greatest legacy.
