Little Moscow was a term for towns and villages in capitalist societies whose population appeared to hold extreme left-wing political values or communist views. The places so named were typically in working class areas, normally with strong trade union links to a heavy industry.

Wünsdorf, ein kleiner Ort, der für Ossis tabu war und so war der nächste Spitznamen auch schnell gefunden: die “Verbotene Stadt”. Aber was sind schon Namen.

It is 1967, the middle of the Cold War in Legnica, south western Poland. The Red Army have turned the town into the largest Soviet garrison on foreign soil due to Legnica's proximity to Czechoslovakia and East Germany.
Little Moscow is an exemplary film about the importance of the liberation of Polish identity. However, this notion does not make up for the poor realization of the film, and reminds us that Eastern European mainstream cinema is still far from the professionalism of the Hollywood industry.
