Die Wurzeln von Amon Amarth liegen bei der im Jahre 1988 gegründeten Death-Metal -Band Scum ( englisch für „Abschaum“). Zur Gruppe gehörten „Themgoroth“ (später Dark Funeral ), Olavi Mikkonen und Ted Lundström (ex-Eternal Oath). Man nahm ein Demo auf, das wegen seines schlechten Sounds nie veröffentlicht wurde. [3]
