Steppenwolf was a Canadian-American rock band that was prominent from 1968 to 1972. The group was formed in late 1967 [1] [2] in Los Angeles by lead singer John Kay , keyboardist Goldy McJohn and drummer Jerry Edmonton , all formerly of the Canadian band the Sparrows . [5]

The band was formed in 1974 with new members including John Kay, Jerry Edmonton, Goldy McJohn, George Biondo, and Bobby Cochran. Steppenwolf released three albums during this period, the most successful being "Slow Flux". After three albums, Steppenwolf was dissolved in 1976. The group was re-formed in 1980 and is still operating.
