20. Jan. 2007 · Be sure to check out Ace's George Tomsco cd: "The Tex-Mex Fireball". George was (is) the Fireball's lead guitarist and composer of Torquay, Bulldog, Footpatter, etc. This cd has 30 Norman Petty produced tracts from Clovis featuring George backing Arthur Alexander, Carolyn Hester, Buddy Holly (the overdubs) and many others.
One wonders if the man was tone deaf, since "Torquay's" Tex-Mex sound is a far cry from the English seaside. But in spite of the misleading title, Torquay" went to # 39 on the Billboard charts in the autumn of 1959 and established the Fireballs' style.
