The song that eventually provided the title for Mitchell's 12th album, "Dog Eat Dog" laid it all out in apocalyptic terms: "In every culture in decline/The watchful ones among the slaves/ Know all that is genuine will be/Scorned and conned and cast away".
Thomas Dolby (who seems to be spreading his considerable talents around a diverse catalogue of artists) co-produces and plays on this, on which Don Henley, James Taylor and Rod Steiger (as a mad Evangelist) also guest.

Donald Hugh „Don“ Henley (* 22. Juli 1947 in Gilmer, Texas) ist ein US-amerikanischer Rockmusiker, der gemeinsam mit dem 2016 verstorbenen Glenn Frey als Bandleader und Sänger der Country-Rockband Eagles bekannt wurde. Seit Beginn der 1980er Jahre verfolgte er zudem eine erfolgreiche Solokarriere und erhielt insgesamt acht Grammy Awards. [1] .
