Stanley Newcomb „Stan“ Kenton (* 15. Dezember 1911 [1] in Wichita, Kansas; † 25. August 1979 in Los Angeles, Kalifornien) war ein US-amerikanischer Jazz-Pianist, -komponist, Orchesterleiter und Musikpädagoge.
22. Feb. 2019 · In 1944 Dolly Mitchell left the band and Anita O'Day, widely known for her work with Gene Krupa, joined Stan along with a young male vocalist and arranger, Gene Howard. A considerable quantity of material was mailed or brought in to the Kenton organization.

Stan Kenton - Wikipedia. Stanley Newcomb Kenton (December 15, 1911 – August 25, 1979) was an American popular music and jazz artist. As a pianist, composer, arranger and band leader, he led an innovative and influential jazz orchestra for almost four decades.
This is a partial collection of the great work that Stan Kenton and Anita did circa 1944. In Anita’s Autobiography, “Hard Times High Times”, She reflects back quite a bit about working with Stan vs. Gene Krupa. It is quite fascinating.
