28. Okt. 2018 · Knofler’s influence is very evident in its arrangement which also features keyboardist Alan Clark. Much of the material on Infidels has a solid rock or pop arrangement, displaying how far musically Dylan had strayed from the folk or roots based music he proliferated in the 1960s while still touching on the topical issues of the day.
Infidels (englisch für „Ungläubige“) ist das 1983 veröffentlichte 22. Studioalbum von Bob Dylan. Es war das erste so genannte „weltliche“ Album nach seiner Hinwendung zum Christentum und kaum noch von dieser „Jesus-Phase“ (1979–1981) geprägt.
In 1983 he played on Bob Dylan 's album Infidels and also on Dylan's following Empire Burlesque album. Clark also worked with Knopfler on some of his film soundtrack work, most notably Knopfler's most successful soundtrack on the film Local Hero, in which he also makes an appearance as a piano player.

Knopfler suggested Alan Clark for keyboards as well as engineer Neil Dorfsman, both of whom were hired. According to Knopfler, it was Dylan's idea to recruit Robbie Shakespeare and Sly Dunbar as the rhythm section.
