I should like to welcome you most warmly to the website of King Edward’s, Bath’s oldest school. Founded in 1552, KES has held a special place in this wonderful city for well over four and a half centuries and is now firmly established as one of the leading schools in the south-west of England.

The Senior School at KES is a warm, welcoming, busy and vibrant environment in which pupils are encouraged to aim for the highest standards in all that they do and to set the kind of example that they would also wish to follow.
Originally located in Frog Lane, the site of today's New Bond street, the newly established School provided education for fee-paying boys, aged 7-15, who were selected on academic merit. Already able to read and write in English before entry, the boys now concentrated on writing and speaking in Latin (the official court language) and Greek.
King Edward’s Junior School boasts a rich and stimulating curriculum, where academic excellence and high expectations are balanced with a wealth of exciting co-curricular opportunities, which is all underpinned by a very supportive and robust pastoral system.
