Lester Louis Adler (born December 13, 1933) is an American record and film producer and the co-owner of the Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood, California. Adler has produced and developed a number of high-profile musical artists, including The Grass Roots, Jan & Dean, The Mamas & the Papas, and Carole King.
Lou Adler’s name is instantly recognizable to most people. He is one of the most successful and well-known music producers of all time, an entertainment legend in his own right, identified inextricably with Los Angeles’ musical culture.
Lou Adler is a Chicago-born producer, known for Up in Smoke, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Witness. He also produced the Monterey Pop Festival and wrote "What a Wonderful World" for Sam Cooke.

Lou Adler is a producer and co-founder of Dunhill and Ode Records. He produced films such as Up in Smoke and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and has four children from two marriages.
Although he lacked the signature sound of Phil Spector or Brian Wilson, Lou Adler was an important catalyst for the new folk-rock sound of California. After working with Herb Alpert as a songwriter, producer, and artist manager at Keen and Dore Records in the late 1950s, Adler became West Coast.
