26. Juni 2013 · 26 June 2013. 6. Share This. Email. The Rezillos recently regrettably confirmed the passing of their former bassist and sax player, William Mysterious. It was with great sadness that I learned Alastair Donaldson (aka William Mysterious) passed away last Tuesday, the 18th of June.
Bass player William Mysterious left the Rezillos, frustrated at the lack of activity, and the band brought in Simon Templar (real name Simon Bloomfield) to replace him. Born Alastair Donaldson, he was originally a member of folk group Silly Wizard, before moving to the Scottish punks to play on their second single for Sire Records, ‘Flying Saucer Attack’ / ‘My Baby (Does Good Sculptures)’ as well as the band’s debut album Can’t Stand The Rezillos.

Alastair Donaldson (27 April 1955, in Edinburgh – 18 June 2013, in Edinburgh) [1] was a Scottish multi-instrumentalist, and was the bassist for the Scottish punk / pop band the Rezillos, for whom he played under the stage name of William Mysterious. [2] [3] [4]
