In Performance 1970–1974 is a four CD box-set of live Mott the Hoople concerts between 1970 and 1974. Playing were the original members of the band and also, the new members incorporated in 1973 after Verden Allen's May departure, and Mick Ralph's August departure.

Mott the Hoople war eine britische Rockband, die in den 1970er Jahren erfolgreich war. 1974 formierte sich die Band als Mott neu, 1976 als British Lions. 1980 löste sich die Gruppe auf. 2009 und 2013 traten die Gründer von Mott the Hoople wieder zusammen auf.
Review. Mott The Hoople are widely regarded as one of the best live acts of the early 70's. For many years the only supporting evidence was their live album, recorded somewhat late in their career. Evidence from their earlier years was rather thin on the ground.
In 1974, Mott the Hoople toured America with Ariel Bender playing lead guitar. In one of Bender's earliest performances with the band they played the Masonic Temple in Detroit on 12 October 1973 with a young Aerosmith opening the show. They were primarily supported on the '74 tour by the band Queen.
