Juan Manuel "Jay" Gonzalez (born January 8, 1971) is an American academic and government administrator who is the president of Curry College. He served Secretary of Administration and Finance of Massachusetts under Governor Deval Patrick from 2009 to 2013 and was the Democratic nominee for Governor of Massachusetts in 2018 .
Jay Gonzalez (born 1973) is a musician from Athens, Georgia known for playing keyboards and guitar in the Drive-By Truckers. Gonzalez joined the band in 2008 and also produces solo music. He has been in the bands Loveapple in the 1990s, the Possibilities and Nutria in the early 2000s, and also plays in the band Cut Buffer.
Their debut album as Gonzalez Smith, “Roll Up a Song,” is a seamless fusion of power pop, piano ballads, bossa nova, and pure spun sugar confection. Jay brings the same multi-instrumental compositional skills found on his first three solo albums, and Pete pens lyrics by turns honest, romantic, arch and comedic, sometimes in the same verse.
